We’re going all soft, romantic and delicate today with this fabulous country house wedding with an outdoor ceremony.

Angela and Toby chose to get married on the 7th May 2016 at Hornington Manor in Yorkshire. They said I do in a wooden gazebo beneath beautiful blooms, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. Toby is a chef and their top priority was to supply good food and drink for their guests with a really relaxed vibe. Creams and pale pinks were used throughout the pretty florals and stylish outfit choices. I am especially coveting Angela’s lacey button back gown, she looked sensational.

Confetti, festoon lights and a masterpiece ruffle cake completed the gorgeous decor. WOW.

Thanks so much to Leah Henson for supplying these dreamy shots.

THE PROPOSAL | At home, low-key but a surprise all the same. Thankfully not what he originally planned, which was going to be at the airport in front of everyone before going on holiday with friends.

THE VISION | Relaxed with good food and drink and surrounded by friends and family. Toby’s a chef so we definitely wanted to make sure there was enough food. Also neither of us are morning people so we plumped for a 3pm ceremony.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We had a lot of help from friends and family. My friend (also one of the bridesmaids) found the venue and my sister (also one of my bridesmaids) made an amazing 4 tier cake, which was delicious. My mum arranged and paid for all of our bouquets and the men’s buttonholes, which were beautiful. My other two bridesmaids were also amazing helping going to buy last minute bits and bobs and staying up until 3am the morning before to finalise the seating plan. I think compared to most we booked quite late – I think we reserved the venue in December or possibly January and married at the start of May.

On the day the best man and his wife were superstars as was one of my friends who ended up coordinating all of the guys in the morning – she was basically our wedding coordinator on the day ☺

BUDGET | Hmm, we didn’t really keep a proper tally but I guess around £15k.

THE VENUE | Hornington Manor – an absolutely amazing place with wonderful staff. They are all so friendly and the venue is so relaxed and comfy. The main reason for choosing it was actually the house rather than the barn that we had the reception in, although that was equally lovely. I think 33 or so of us stayed in the house. We booked it from Friday to Monday, which meant we had extra time to catch up with people that had travelled from quite far for the wedding.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I thought I’d be more bothered about the dress but actually I didn’t try on. I originally thought I’d go for something with a lot of embellishment or something a little bit unusual but in the end I went for a slightly vintage looking dress with lace and a long lace trimmed veil. I also borrowed my sister’s wedding shoes and my mum’s jade jewellery, which she was given by my dad’s parents when they got married.

FINDING THE DRESS | Again one of my bridesmaids organised me ☺ We randomly went into a wed2b store where it’s like a supermarket for wedding dresses. I picked a couple, tried them on, decided one looked good and bought it.

GROOM’S ATTIRE | Toby’s suit was quite summery and he wanted to get something that he’d wear again. His suit, tie and shoes were from Paul Smith and then he wore one of shirts that he already had. He has worn his suit quite a few times since ☺

THE READINGS & MUSIC | No readings but for music we had an acoustic version of Coldplay’s ‘Sky Full of Stars’ for the ceremony. The recessional we had Etta James’ ‘At Last’, which was a little tongue in cheek as we’ve been together for 13 years. The first dance song, which we decided the morning of the wedding, was ‘Ho Hey’ by The Lumineers. Our band was awesome and were very chilled considering we left it until the last minute to choose the song.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My sister – Louise Myers, Friends – Becca Smith, Gemma Boyle and Yvonne Chan – they were all AMAZING and I wouldn’t have actually got anything done without them (I’m a bit too relaxed sometimes ☺). We also had my niece (Lucy) as flower girl and my nephew (Harry) and Toby’s nephew (Wang Yihe) as page boys.

THE FLOWERS | My mum organised the flowers with a lovely florist in York.

THE CAKE | An amazing white four tier cake with alternating flavoured cake layers and plenty of buttercream – my favourite! Made by my amazing sister!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Leah Henson – I first met Leah when I asked her to video my friend’s wedding. Her stuff is really natural and relaxed and we’re really pleased with the photos and video.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Lots of coloured glass vases from the Range and Ikea with eucalyptus and other flowers that we bought from the flower stall in York city centre the day before the wedding. Oh and lots pillar candles. We also had festoon lighting in the barn and in the courtyard.

THE HONEYMOON | Still deciding, probably Cuba and the Cayman Islands this Christmas.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Seeing everyone there, having my dad walk me down the aisle and my best friends by my side was awesome but I think my mum’s amazing impromptu speech stole the show. I got a little choked up whilst thanking everyone and she swept in and saved the day with a beautiful speech.

One other thing which was really fun was a second day of getting dressed and taking photos including one of my bridesmaids who couldn’t actually make it for the wedding day. We threw the dresses on and I don’t think we even bothered with hair and make up. We did some funny shots including one of me throwing the bouquet which actually ended up hitting me in the head, much to everyone’s amusement! ☺

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Do your table plan a little earlier than the night before the wedding ;). Also, Pinterest is great for planning.
